James 4:11-12

"The Danger of Playing God"

Pastor Kenneth Reece

James said let us not slander one another.

The Definition verse 12.

Christians need to have discernment. James is saying we should not slander others. Always finding fault with other people.

Slander destroys the good name of others. We should not use our tongue to devalue others. Psams 101:5; Ephesians 4:31

If you do not anything nice to say don't say anything at all. When we slander others we are in essence doing the work of the Devil.

A Solution

3 Reasons to not Slander

  1. The Link between Us ...we are brothers and sisters in Christ. We are in relationship with one another. We are a part of God's family. We have so much in common in Christ.

We are made family by the blood of Christ. We ought not tear down one another.

  1. The Law Between Us ....the law is we should love others as

we love ourselves. Due to us loving God we love others.  A person who slander is far from the royal law of love which is loving your neighbor as yourself.

  1. The Lord above Us ...verse 12...there is one law giver and one Lord. Isaiah 33:32.

  1. God has authority. One who places law in place. God alone is the ultimate law giver. Our role is not to condemn others. This authority belongs to God. When we judge to condemn others we are trying to take the place of God

  1. God has the ability to judge. He is the law giver and keeper. We should avoid trying to take the role of God.

Who do we think we are to try to take the place of God by condemning others?

We are disqualified from slandering others.
