Prayer is a powerful privilege that so few understand. God's disciples did not understand it either. This is why He gave them the parable of the widow and the judge in Luke 18. To hear from God, we must talk to God, and talk to Him continually.
Growing up in the Bible belt of Louisiana, we were taught as a child to pray. Though our prayers were basic and simplistic, God honored that child like prayer coming from a seeking heart. We are still children, asking our Father to help us. We are seeking after Him to meet our needs as only He can.
Now that I have gotten older, I am more convinced than ever regarding the privilege to talk to God and to have God talk back. Can you imagine talking to God? Talking to the creator of all that exists? I discovered that the more I talked, the more He demonstrated that he heard me. The more that I discovered that he heard me, the more I wanted to talk to him.
1 John 5:14-15 states that our confidence in God grows when we know He hears us. The more I prayed, the greater the need I felt to pray. Praying makes me aware of my purpose and responsibility to the will of God.
